The "Belt and Road" in Progress: Hisen Strikes Again, Enhancing Cooperation between China and Kazakhstan

On August 9, 2019, the grand potato technology exchange and on-site observation meeting was held in the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan. This technical seminar and the Hisen No. 6 field observation meeting attracted about 70 participants, including officials from the agricultural authorities of Karaganda, members of agricultural cooperatives, large potato growers, and technical representatives from internationally renowned potato seed companies and pesticide and fertilizer companies from Germany and the Netherlands.
Our company's chairman Liang Hisen, general manager Dr. Hu Baigeng, and overseas business department manager Ming Jin were invited to attend this observation meeting. Fedor Klyat, chairman of the local large farm S.Su, and Konstantin Skridonenko, deputy general manager, accompanied the activities throughout.
1. Technical exchange - technology share
The mayor welcomed the Chinese Hisen company to promote the world's excellent new potato varieties for planting in Karaganda.
Chairman Liang Hisen stated that Hisen is willing to work with partners in Kazakhstan to commit tothe development of the potato industry in countries along the Belt and Road.
Overseas business department Ming Jinreported on our company's situation and the international cooperation projects and achievements in recent years.
Professor Vadim reported on the comparison of the traits of Hisen No. 3, Hisen No. 6, and the local cultivated varieties.

After three years of demonstration and experimental planting, Hisen seed potatoes have successfully obtained promotion certification in Kazakhstan, and their high yield and quality performance have been unanimously recognized by local farmers and growers, with broad market prospects.
2. On-site observation — Field trip
After the technical exchange meeting, participants gathered to visit the Hisen No. 6 planting field for on-site observation. Upon arrival, the farm owner excitedly walked into the field to personally dig out a few potato plants, allowing everyone to closely observe the actual growth and tuber formation of Hisen No. 6. The robust plants, uniform growth, and large, even tubers drew praise from the attending guests.
The "Belt and Road" national strategy is an opportunity for cooperation between both parties. After three years of effort, Hisen seed potatoes have taken root, blossomed, and borne fruit in Kazakhstan, and China-Kazakhstan cooperation continues to enter a new stage.
3. Strengthening exchanges — enhanced cooperation
After the observation activity, our company's chairman and his team rushed to the capital Nur-Sultan to have discussions with President Kurishbayev and Vice President Ismail of the Sefulin Agricultural Technology University. During the discussion, both parties communicated fully and planned in detail regarding the previous cooperation results and the advancement of subsequent cooperation matters. Both parties agreed to continue to accelerate the promotion and planting of the Hisen series seed potatoes throughout Kazakhstan based on the cooperation results already achieved, benefiting more potato farmers.
4. Mutual encouragement — mutual encouragement
On August 11, Professor Vadim Khassanov, the Kazakh technical leader of the China-Kazakhstan cooperative breeding project, led our team to inspect the breeding experimental fields, hybrid seedling nurseries, and the yield and adaptability testing bases of Hisen new varieties under both irrigated and non-irrigated conditions in northern Kazakhstan. Subsequently, they visited the crop laboratory of the Sefulin Agricultural University in Kazakhstan, where both parties exchanged opinions on the current cooperation results, the advancement of subsequent projects, and strengthening academic exchanges.
