-
China has now launched a strategy to promote potatoes as a staple food, proposing to actively advance the development of potato staple food products and industries, improve the development of staple food products and process flows, and enhance the level of potato industrialization. Potatoes will become another staple food alongside rice, wheat, and corn, with the planting area gradually expanding to 150 million mu, and the annual production of fresh potatoes increasing by 200 million tons, equivalent to about 40 million tons of grain, which will significantly improve the country's food security level.
The staple food strategy for potatoes involves processing potatoes into staple food products such as steamed buns, noodles, and rice noodles that are suitable for Chinese consumption habits. This aims to achieve the transformation of potatoes from being consumed as a side dish to a staple food, from raw materials to industrialized finished products, and from basic consumption to nutritious and healthy consumption, gradually making potatoes the fourth major staple crop in addition to the three main staples in our country.
Xisen Potato Industry Co. Ltd. has been committed to promoting the potato staple food strategy in recent years. It actively explores and practices the processing of potatoes into localized staple food products that suit the taste of the Chinese population, gradually guiding the public's awareness and dietary habits regarding potato consumption. It has successfully launched over sixty varieties of staple food products in five major series, including steamed buns, noodles, snacks, bread, and fully nutritious potato beverages made from potato flour, and is actively promoting them.
