Potatoes will become another staple food alongside rice, wheat, and corn, with the planting area gradually expanding to 150 million mu, and the annual production of fresh potatoes increasing by 200 million tons, equivalent to about 40 million tons of grain, which will significantly improve the country's food security level.

The staple food strategy for potatoes involves processing potatoes into staple food products such as steamed buns, noodles, and rice noodles that are suitable for Chinese consumption habits. This aims to achieve the transformation of potatoes from being consumed as a side dish to a staple food, from raw materials to industrialized finished products, and from basic consumption to nutritious and healthy consumption, gradually making potatoes the fourth major staple crop in addition to the three main staples in our country.
